USCIS case status lookup

Enter a receipt number to see the status text USCIS currently publishes for that case. English is the official original; the Chinese is a reference translation. This page checks status only — it does not cover visa availability and does not predict processing time. No sign-in required.

Three letters followed by ten digits (for example an electronic receipt number beginning with IOE followed by ten digits). Spaces and hyphens are fine — those are the only characters we remove. Up to 40 characters.

When you submit, this receipt number is sent through our server to our lookup provider (MyCases) for this request only. It is not saved to an account, and not placed in the URL or in browser storage.

Three different questions

Case status, visa availability and processing times

Case status

The status text USCIS currently publishes for one specific receipt number. It describes that case only — not visa availability, not averages.

Visa availability (Visa Bulletin)

The Department of State's monthly Chart A and Chart B, which decide whether a category and country of birth can move forward or file. Unrelated to any individual case's status.

Processing times

USCIS's published range for a form at a given office. It is a statistic, not a commitment about your case.

What this tool does and does not do

Boutique team, by appointment

Status unchanged for a long time, or an RFE arrived?

The status text alone does not explain why. If a case stalls or an RFE/NOID arrives, the full record needs to be reviewed by counsel before deciding the next step.
